This book looks wonderful. I've made a couple of self portraits and I've also done a quilted portrait of my husband. I'd love to win a copy of this book! Fingers crossed...
I have made only one quilt with a portrait. When Quilting Arts called for self-portrait entries I made one. It didn't get picked for publication, but it is still one of my favorite pieces.
Having just completed a portrait piece -- my first! -- I'd love to see this book.
I love working with people faces and am currently working on a quilt with 7 faces on it! I would love to have this book and am glad I found this blog!

I have not made true portrait quilts but I have made quilts with people that allude to a concern for the environment or the political situation in a country.

I wanted very much to submit a quilt for this book, but easily a dozen requests to the photographer whose picture I used never got a reply. What do you do if your requests for permission to use a photo are never answered????

I agree that this looks like a wonderful book. Years ago, I attempted a portrait of my son. It didn't turn out great, but I have a photo of my mother that I would like to do.

Yes - I made a quilt of my friend who was going through a divorce. She was the central figure, holding flowers from her garden and surrounded by "white light" to help with healing. Thanks!

I am currently working on a quilt with 15 women who pioneered reform in KY in shades of grey. Prior to this my 1st quilt was a girls face -thread painted without fusible.
I have not had classes so this book would be a great reference point for refining my work

Just completed a tribute quilt of my husband, per Charlotte Warr Anderson technique...LOVE IT!
I made a quilt using photo transfers of my brother. It was meant to be like a scrapbook page.
I did a portrait swap block with some friends years ago. Still haven't done anything with it. 2 of the ladies never did get their blocks made.
I have made quilts with people in them, but all have been photo quilts. I think I am ready to try the projects in this book.

I've never made a quilt with people although I did a small quilt based on "The Scream"---it was a menopause challenge and I did the woman's face in a coral red with hair going every which way. I used white wire for one hair and captioned the quilt with "Double Whammy"

This book looks awesome! I am in the process of making a quilt/wallhanging that have two people in the design. Both people are pictured from behind with one of them showing a side view of the face. It's great learning about all the talented and inspiring artists.
